Become Legendary, not lucky
In a lot of ways, we become aware of champions as they reach their peak and as their name becomes synonymous with victory. It is a rare thing to truly understand everything that goes into the end result, all of the behind the scenes work leading up to the moment when all of their hard work pays off. Some people are ignorant enough to claim that it was mostly luck. Their defeatist mentality is that the champ happened to be in the right place at the right time to get the break that they did. I have to disagree 100%.
"Luck is the residue of design" - Branch Rickey
"Design and preparation remove luck from your performance equation." - Erik Korem
"Luck favors the prepared mind" - Louis Pasteur
It is only through the absolute commitment to being the best that you can possibly be that true achievement is found. It is not how you compare to others, but how much you took advantage of the opportunities and skills that you have been given and that you have developed.
"Don't measure yourself by what you have accomplished, but by what you should have accomplished with your ability." - John Wooden
