Smug Morning Thoughts

After an incredible week with all the highs and all the lows that are seemingly the hallmark of my world these days I went out to celebrate a friend's birthday and just have fun.  We all met up at Social House in West Village and then through some quick texting and string pulling I got almost our entire group into the VIP at Aura.  (I say almost because camo shorts and flip flops were just not going to fly... Sorry buddy)  At about 1:30 I headed out and beat the rush to the valet and headed home.  Just before bed a review my morning to do list and as is the norm once my head touched the pillow I was out.  But as is also the norm, I woke up at 7am.  It has gotten to the point that it doesn't matter how long my day was or how late I was up, if there are things for me to do (which there always are) I will be up and at 'em bright and early.  Saturday mornings are my absolute favorite time to be out getting things done.  I always drive around with the windows down, shades on, and sporting a smug grin about how productive I am while everyone else sleeps away the first 12 hours of the weekend.  This morning was especially great.  83 degrees and sunny.  Then add a free Chick-fila Chicken Sandwich to the mix, life is good.  I am sitting right now at the Apple store at Northpark Mall with my Venti Drip (Pike's Place... annoying) waiting for the resident geniuses to finish making Annie's Mac Book feel better.  They opened this morning at 8am and I was the 2nd person through the door. I am typing on a Apple Cinema HD Display and completely enamored with this much monitor space.  30 beautiful inches of Apple wonderment and display options for my morning pleasure.  It is official, I want to be a Mac Addict again.  I say again because I was way before it was cool to be.  I 1996 at the tender age of 14 I saved up all my lawn mowing money and purchased the first home computer my family had ever had.  It was a desktop Mac and it was the pride and joy of my labor until two years later when I got my truck.  When I bought my Mac all those years ago I was mocked and persecuted. Now, I am sitting in the temple of Apple listening to a Sunday school lesson at the Genius Bar as a whole new group of converts learn how to use and to defend their beloved Mac.   The Apple store employees all got here early and came in as if they had just been dropped off at a playground, huge smile on their face, giddy to get to the business of spreading the love of their leader, Steve Jobs.  It may be a cult that has gone mainstream, but I drank the Kool-aid before it tasted good and it is good to know that so many others have joined in.

Annie's computer is ready.  And so am I, to continue my smug early riser tour of Dallas.
