The Netowrking Event of the Century!

I just got invited to "The Networking Event of the Century."
Well, I got invited to the 2008 version.
Whenever someone claims that there are going to be "the top movers and shakers in the city" there never are. There are a bunch of people that "know people" that you might actually want to know. The people that are the people that you really want to know do not come to networking events. Those people have their network and don't need yours. Those people will become a part of your network if the want to or if they need to, but they do not go out actively seeking you through a "networking event."
And besides, there are at least another 91 "Networking Events of the Century" left, so I am not going to be to terribly sad to miss this one.
