Stay in Touch

I just had a couple beers with a good friend of mine from an old job. When I left the company that I began my career with, I only took one or two friendships with me. Not because I didn't want to stay in touch, but because our friendships, in large part, were based solely on our mutual association and place of employment. I am sure that if we had met under different circumstances, we would have been friends with more authenticity and for a longer period of time, but since we met at the office, that was not the case.
I am constantly fascinated by who stays a part of my life and who I lose touch with. It all happens for a reason, but it never fails to make me smile.
