My Mastery

It is 6:30 on a Wednesday night. It has been a long overly productive day on multiple fronts. Playoff baseball on is. There is a cold beer in the refrigerator. And yet I find myself drawn back to the home office for another round of writing, strategizing, and adding another layer on to the game plan that moves me closer to my end game.
This quote jumped out at me this weekend when I came across it and I believe it is a reference to times like these:

"If people only knew how hard I worked to gain my mastery, it wouldn't seem so wonderful at all." - Michelangelo

I would like to think that, like Michelangelo, I am continually in search of my mastery. The constant pursuit of my best. Not just what I know I can achieve, but beyond. Not just the next step, but the one after that. When you know and have solidified the big picture, the energy and the passion to press on come from a deeper place and are constantly replenished as each step, trail, and turn bring you that much closer to that something that you know is yours to conquer.
