Quotes for the Holidays
Christmas time is one of the best times of the year. There are all of the long lost friends that are back in town, shopping and presents and over eating on cookies and treats, and of course the excuse to mix and match red and green in your wardrobe. But perhaps the thing that I have come to appreciate the most in the past few years, is the entrepreneur's dream: a few days when those who like to work are the only ones around working.
The past couple days, and the days in between Christmas and New Years, have been and will be some of the most productive of the month. The clutter of paperwork and the hustle of activities not directly contributing to the bottom line will slow down long enough to just focus on the main thing, the bread and butter, the core of the business. And the timing couldn't be better. Not only will the end of the year numbers be better than expected, but also the vision casting for next year will be clearer and more focused. And it is with that in mind that I put together some of the best quotes that have been sent my way over the past few weeks:
"Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things that you didn't do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover." - Mark Twain
"It is not the strongest of the specifies that survives, nor the most intelligent, but rather the one most adaptable to change." - Charles Darwin
"Every man mistakes the limits of his own field of vision for the limits of the world." - Arthur Schophenhauer
"Cowards die many times before their deaths; the valiant never taste of death but once." - William Shakespeare
"A wise man will make more opportunities than he finds." - Francis Bacon
"To tend, unfailingly, unflinchingly, toward a goal, is the secret of success." - Anna Pavlova
"Achievement is talent plus preparation." - Malcolm Gladwell
"Patience is necessary... one cannot reap immediately where one has sown." - Soren Kierkegaard
"Conditions are never just right. People who delay action until all factors are favorable are the kinds who usually end up doing nothing." - William Feather
"They say things happen for a reason... (if) You don't do them, they won't." - Donavon Frankenreiter
"Progress always involves risks. You can't steal second base and keep your foot on first." - Fredrick Wilcox
"Let us endeavor so to live that when we come to die even the undertaker will be sorry." - Mark Twain
